Flickering Memories

When I was little, I was told that the stars I saw were so far away that by the time their light reached Earth, many were already dead. The things I thought lasted for eternity were as fragile as everything else in this cruel world we all live in. I suppose I felt scared and upset at the time, but after the death of my sister I realized something.

Where the stars were, they were dead, yes... but they were visible and alive on Earth. They lived on in the eyes of billions, not just in mind but in body as well. It made me see that nothing can ever truly fade from existence.

Those we love who have left this world are still out there. Maybe we can find them again someday, somehow.

The world is a much kinder place when you remember that nothing is lost forever.
